The first candidates through British Columbia’s Entrepreneur Immigration Regional Pilot category have been issued invitations to apply.
The June 13 draw saw five invitations issued to candidates with a minimum score of 118 points.
At the same time, the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BCPNP) also issued invites through the general category of its Entrepreneur Immigration stream.
This draw saw 20 invites issued to candidates scoring 117 points or more.
B.C. recently added a further 12 communities to its Regional Pilot stream.
The two-year pilot is designed to attract entrepreneurs to establish businesses in smaller communities with populations less than 75,000.
Such smaller communities are facing some of the more acute issues with aging populations and shrinking labour markets.
