Sharp Drop in Chinese Millionaires Applying to Quebec IIP

Rich Chinese nationals are reported to be deserting the Quebec Immigrant Investor Program (QIIP), which has long been the main avenue for thousands of millionaire immigrants into Canada. An industry source said that the scheme failed to fulfil its quota for 2014 despite the application window being extended three times. The lack of applications are apparently due to new rules requiring strict background checks.
