According to a survey, almost 9 out of 10 Australians strongly support immigration and believe that migrants improve Australian society. About 80% think immigrants are good for the economy, and 70% think Australia should maintain or increase its current level of immigration. However almost 50% said stronger measures were needed to “exclude illegal immigrants”, with 29% believing immigrants increased crime rates and take jobs away from Australians.
