Malta Citizenship by Investment Scheme Rated as 'Best in the World'

Malta’s IIP has become the world’s most successful investment immigration program by attracting investments in excess of €1 billion since its introduction in February, 2014. The country’s popularity amongst wealthy investors has contributed to the popularity of its passport—currently ranked as the 7th best in the world.
All countries with investment immigration programs that offer citizenship or permanent residence in lieu of investment were ranked in the top 40 passports of the world. Malta broke into the top ten rankings after introducing its Individual Investor Program.
Portugal’s Golden Visa is the world’s best investment immigration program offering permanent residence and its passport is ranked 4th in the world. Antigua and Barbuda, another nation with a popular citizenship by investment program saw its passport ranked higher in the 2015 Index.
Visa-free access to countries is an important parameter that affects the popularity of programs amongst investors. It is also an indicator of the credibility of the vetting and due diligence process of the programs. Continued visa-free entry highlights the passport’s reputation and underlying presumption that investment immigration programs will admit only those who entitled to the privilege of fast-track permanent residence or citizenship.
