How Grenada’s CIP Offers Route to US Via E-2 Investor Visa

The E-2 investor visa route to US residence makes Grenada’s citizenship by investment program an extremely useful option for wealthy investors and professionals from emerging countries like India and Vietnam.

With the H-1B and L-1 route hit hard by stricter eligibility rules and adverse administrative policies, getting a non-immigrant visa and living and working in the US has become a lot tougher for professionals across the world.

This makes Grenada a popular destination for those seeking a simple and hassle-free route to non-immigrant status in the US.

Grenada and the E-2 Investor Visa

Turkey and Grenada are the only two countries that have an E-2 visa treaty with the US and offer direct citizenship to wealthy applicants prepared to fulfill the minimum investment requirements.

The US E-2 investor visa is a non-immigrant visa available to citizens of countries that have an E-2 visa treaty with the US. This visa program allows applicants to invest in, setup and manage their own business in the US and qualify for non-immigrant status in the country.

A beautiful island with fertile valleys, scenic beaches, an idyllic lifestyle and a stable polity, Grenada is far more popular as an investment immigration destination among the global elite.

With no minimum investment and job creation requirements, the E-2 visa is a simpler and much faster option compared to the US EB-5 visa. However, this route is closed to Indians since the country has not signed a reciprocal E-2 investor visa treaty with the US.

This is where holding a Grenadian passport can make a difference.

About Grenada CIP

CIP investment options include:

  • USD $150,000 donation to the National Transformation Fund, or
  • Buying property for USD $350,000 in an approved real estate project.

Grenada’s passport offers visa-free access to 143 countries, including China, the UK, EU, and Russia. Other benefits include:

  • Liberal tax regime with no taxes on foreign incomes, property, gifts, wealth, or inheritances
  • Exemption on all important taxes
  • Unlimited remittances of capital and profit to the home country.

Since India does not allow dual citizenship, an investor choosing Grenada’s CIP must surrender Indian citizenship. However, the Person of Indian Origin (PIO) status will ensure minimal disruptions in his/her connection with India.

The CIP does not have any educational, language, or work-related requirements. It is not necessary to live in the country to maintain citizenship. Those opting for the real estate investment route can sell the property after five years without any impact on their citizenship status.

As a citizen of Grenada, an Indian investor can start living in the US by setting up and operating a business and qualifying for the E-2 investor visa. Minimum investments can be as low as $100,000 and the processing time ranges between six to eight weeks.

As an E-2 investor, your children can study in the US and your spouse can work in the country with minimal restrictions.

With the US unlikely to roll back visa restrictions anytime soon, a wealthy Indian entrepreneur or professional can explore the US E-2 Investor visa route through Grenada’s investment immigration program.
