First British Columbia Entrepreneur Draw of 2020 Sees 25 Invites Issued

British Columbia immigration issued invitations to 25 candidates across two streams in its first Entrepreneur Immigration draw of 2020.

The January 14 British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program draw featured invites through both the general Entrepreneur stream and the Entrepreneur Immigration Regional Pilot.

Candidates for the general category received 18 invites with a minimum score of 117 points.

Regional Pilot candidates received 7 invites, with a minimum score of 111 points.

The pilot is designed to bring entrepreneurs and investors to smaller British Columbia communities.

The previous BC PNP Entrepreneur Immigration draw took place on December 17 and saw 32 invitations issued.

Candidates for the general category received 24 invites with a minimum score of 118 points.

Regional Pilot candidates received 8 invites, with a minimum score of 112 points.

What Are The Requirements For The B.C. Entrepreneur Category?

Business candidates in this British Columbia immigration category must meet the following minimum criteria:

  • Demonstrate a personal net worth of at least $800,000;
  • Make a personal investment of at least $400 000 to establish or purchase and expand an eligible business in B.C.;
  • Create at least three jobs for Canadian citizens or permanent residents;
  • Participate in the day-to-day management and direction or the business;
  • Sign a performance agreement with B.C. prior to nomination;
  • Candidates in the Entrepreneur category can sponsor a key staff member for Canadian permanent residence.

What Are The Requirements For The B.C. Entrepreneur Immigration – Regional Pilot Category?

Community Requirements

  • The population of less than 75,000.
  • Located beyond 30km from a municipality of more than 75,000 population.
  • Demonstrated capacity to support foreign entrepreneurs with a network of settlement and business support agencies.
  • Immigration and pilot-specific training must be completed by community representatives.

Candidate Requirements

  • Desire to start a business and settle in a B.C. regional community.
  • Complete an exploratory visit.
  • Minimum of $100,000 in eligible business investments.
  • Minimum personal net worth of $300,000.
  • Minimum of 51 percent ownership.
  • Minimum of one new job created.
