{"id":3822,"date":"2015-04-27T20:56:24","date_gmt":"2015-04-27T20:56:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.investmentimmigration.com\/?p=3822"},"modified":"2019-02-12T14:22:20","modified_gmt":"2019-02-12T19:22:20","slug":"portugal-introduce-new-rules-golden-visa-scheme","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.investmentimmigration.com\/portugal-introduce-new-rules-golden-visa-scheme\/","title":{"rendered":"Portugal Set to Introduce New Rules for Golden Visa Scheme"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Portugal Golden Visa New Rules<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Portugal is set to approve changes to its Golden Visa Residence Program that include two new investment options for applicants to the scheme.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Applicants will be now able to qualify for a Golden Visa by investing \u20ac500,000 towards the purchase or renovation of urban properties, or by investing \u20ac350,000 in cultural or scientific research.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The new investment options will be available alongside the three original investment options, namely a minimum investment of \u20ac500,000 in real estate, an investment of \u20ac1 million in bonds or stocks, or through the creation of a new company that employs at least 10 Portuguese nationals.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Additionally, a reduced investment requirement for less developed regions of Portugal is being proposed. Applicants who invest in a region with under 100,000 inhabitants, or with a GDP of under 75% of the national average, will have their real estate investment reduced to \u20ac400,000 &#8211; a reduction of 20%.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Other changes being proposed to the golden visa scheme include the appointment of an external auditor to oversee the administration of the scheme, which comes as a reaction to the corruption scandals that have dogged the golden visa scheme recently.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Launched in 2012, Portugal\u2019s golden visa scheme grants investors a permanent residence permit of the country, allowing investors to take up residence in any country in the European Union&#8217;s Schengen zone.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Source<\/strong>:<strong> Mondaq.com<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Portugal Golden Visa New Rules Portugal is set to approve changes to its Golden Visa Residence Program that include two new investment options for applicants to the scheme.
