British Columbia Immigration Issues 15 Entrepreneur Invitations To Apply

The latest British Columbia Entrepreneur Immigration draw saw invitations to apply issued to 15 business candidates.

Candidates required a minimum score of 115 to qualify for an ITA through the draw, which took place on May 2, 2018.

Requirements: Entrepreneur Category

Business candidates in this British Columbia immigration category must meet the following minimum criteria:

  • Demonstrate a personal net worth of at least $800,000;
  • Make a personal investment of at least $400 000 to establish or purchase and expand an eligible business in B.C.;
  • Create at least three jobs for Canadian citizens or permanent residents;
  • Participate in the day-to-day management and direction or the business;
  • Sign a performance agreement with B.C. prior to nomination;
  • Candidates in the Entrepreneur category can sponsor a key staff member for Canadian permanent residence.

Requirements: Regional Entrepreneur Category

Business candidates in this category must meet the following minimum criteria:

  • Demonstrate a personal net worth of at least $400,000;
  • Make a personal investment of at least $200,000 to establish or purchase and expand an eligible business in B.C. outside the Vancouver metropolitan area and the Abbotsford metropolitan area;
  • Create at least one new job for a Canadian citizen or permanent resident;
  • Participate in the day-to-day management and direction or the business;
  • Sign a performance agreement with B.C. prior to nomination.

Meanwhile, the latest general draw conducted by the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program took place on May 2, 2018.

The draw saw 205 candidates invited to apply for British Columbia immigration through provincial programs and Canada Express Entry.

The minimum score for Express Entry skilled workers and international graduates, plus provincial international graduates, was 91 points. The minimum score for the provincial skilled workers was 86 points, while there were 60 points required for entry level and semi-skilled workers.

A coveted provincial nomination effectively guarantees selection under the Canada Express Entry System, worth 600 Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points.

The score needed for an international graduate is 30 points below a skilled worker under both the Canada Express Entry and provincial stream.
